text and translation

Ofmetnað drýgja        skyldi engi maðr,
        — þat hefk sannliga sét —
þvít þeir hverfa,        er honum fylgja,
        flestir guði frá.

Engi maðr skyldi drýgja ofmetnað — þat hefk sannliga sét — þvít flestir þeir er honum fylgja, hverfa frá guði.

‘No man should cultivate pride — I have truly seen that — because most of those who pursue it turn away from God.
