Hákon was killed at the battle of Sekken in Romsdalsfjorden against Erlingr skakki and Magnús Erlingsson (on 7 July 1162). He was buried in Romsdalen, but King Sverrir later had his body moved to Kristkirken in Trondheim. See MErlHkr (ÍF 28, 383).
