‘Vigorous Hákon ruled the kingdom alone for some time. The glory-eager one was altogether six and twenty years [king] in the country.’
The number of years given for Hákon’s rule tallies with those of HákgóðHkr (ÍF 26, 182) and Fsk (ÍF 29, 94). HN (MHN 106) and ÓH (1941, 18) have twenty-seven years (counting the year he ruled jointly with his brother Eiríkr). Theodoricus (MHN 9) gives twenty-five years and Ágr (ÍF 29, 9) has twenty-four years. See Ólafía Einarsdóttir 1964, 174-7. — [1] kappsamr ‘vigorous’: See Note to st. 4/1.
