Þá vas reisuligr haugr orpinn ept Harald á Rogalandi. Nafn þess hildings, {sonar Halfdans}, mun æ uppi lengi.

Then a magnificent mound was erected in memory of Haraldr in Rogaland. The name of the ruler, {of Hálfdan’s son} [= Haraldr], will be remembered for a very long time.

Editions: Skj AI, 580, Skj BI, 576, Skald I, 279, NN §1225; Flat 1860-8 II, 521.

Notes: [All]: Haraldr was buried near Haugesund in Rogaland, south-western Norway. It appears that Snorri must have visited Haraldr’s place of burial when he was in Norway, because he describes it in detail. See HhárfHkr (ÍF 26, 147-8 and n. 2) and Storm 1900, 89 n. 1. — [5] æ ‘very’: Lit. ‘always’. The adv. is taken as an intensifier to lengi ‘long’ (see Fritzner: æ 1).
