Notes: [1] gief þú (imp. sg.) ‘give’: Skj B emends to gefa (inf.) ‘give’ which is taken as an inf. modified by mátt (2nd pers. sg. pres. indic.) of mega ‘be able to’. In the present edn mátt is m. acc. sg. of máttr ‘power’ (so also Skald and Wrightson). — [2] bragarhátt ‘poetic form’: This cpd can also be used synonymously with bragarbót ‘poetic improvement’, which is a term for a metre in Ht (see SnE 1999, 43 n. 31/1 and Note to Mv I 1/3). — [5] veittu ‘lead’: For this meaning of the verb, see Fritzner: veita 1.
