Kirsten Wolf (ed.) 2007, ‘Anonymous Poems, Heilagra meyja drápa 41’ in Margaret Clunies Ross (ed.), Poetry on Christian Subjects. Skaldic Poetry of the Scandinavian Middle Ages 7. Turnhout: Brepols, p. 917.
Blý og járn skal blessuð meyja
bera óverðug sier á herðum;
ýtar leiddu oft um stræti
unga frú með byrði þunga.
Utan borgar var ærlig sæta
yfirgræðara flett af klæðum;
‘The blessed maiden must undeserving carry on her shoulders lead and iron; men often led the young lady around the streets with the heavy burden. Outside the city the honourable woman of the supreme healer [HOLY WOMAN] was stripped of her clothes; the woman dear to the Lord is drowned in deep water by heathen people.’
