The prophetess told me true secrets, but I wanted to heed nothing of it. I mentioned to {the young son of Ingjaldr} [= Ásmundr] that I was keen to visit my father’s homestead.

Notes: [1-4]: See Heiðr Lv 1-3 (Ǫrv 1-3) and Introduction and Notes to those stanzas. — [4] vildak ‘I wanted’: Normalised from the late ms. forms of the 1st pers. sg. pret. vildi (cf. ANG §533.1). — [5-8]: According to the saga (Ǫrv 1888, 17-19), Oddr leaves Berurjóðr out of spite because Ingjaldr has insisted on inviting the prophetess to his farm even though he knew Oddr was against it. He takes Ásmundr with him to visit his family at Hrafnista. — [8] vitja ‘to visit’: The reading of 343a, vita ‘know’, does not make sense in context and is unmetrical.
