Hvar skal ek kenna Húnum hervíg?
‘Where shall I tell the Huns the battle is? ’

The narrative explains that if a king marks out a designated place of battle, invaders cannot harry in his territory until the battle is decided. Gizurr arms himself and prepares to ride to call the Huns to battle, and speaks these lines.
