Hverr er kominn einn saman í ey? Gakktu greiðliga til gistingar.
‘Who has come alone onto the island? Go quickly to your lodging. ’
Although this half-stanza is clearly supposed to be spoken by the shepherd, Hb does not indicate a speaker in the prose. Ms. 2845 narrates that Hervǫr/Hervarðr encounters a shepherd, and introduces the helmingr with Hann kvað ‘He said’. In R715ˣ this half-stanza follows directly from the previous one.
[1-2]: Ms. R715ˣ’s version reads: Þú ert einn [ms. ‘eirn’] með oss [ms. ‘ofs’] eyna í kominn ‘You have come alone among us onto the island’.
