Mey veit ek Heiðreks, …
systur þína, svigna til jarðar.
Hafa Húnar hana felda,
ok marga aðra yðra þegna.
Ek veit mey Heiðreks, … systur þína, svigna til jarðar. Húnar hafa felda hana, ok marga aðra þegna yðra.
‘I know Heiðrekr’s girl, … your sister, to have sunk to the earth. The Huns have felled her, and many others of your men. ’

[2]: Metrically, there must be something missing here, but neither ms. gives any indication either of what it may be or of a gap. All previous eds have made suggestions, but all are conjecture.
