The stanza is introduced, Ok enn kvað Angantýr (Heiðr 1960, 49) ‘And again Angantýr said’.
[1-4]: This helmingr is echoed in AngH Lv 9/1-4 (Heiðr 117), where Angantýr ruefully reflects on the consequences of Hlǫðr’s refusal of his offer. Alliteration is lacking across ll. 1-2 of the present stanza. Skj B emends l. 2 to bjartar vigrar ‘bright lances’, which is followed by Skald, FSGJ, Heiðr 1960 and ÍF Edd. Bugge’s suggestion, bauga fagra (Heiðr 1873), is noted by Heiðr 1924 and Heiðr 1960 and adopted by Edd. Min., which offers other conjectures in the notes. None have any ms. support, however. AngH Lv 9/2 has (with alliteration) basmir óskerðar ‘undiminished riches’. This reading is problematic in itself (see Note), and it could be that both stanzas originally had the same line, but that it has not been preserved intact in either (cf. Heiðr 1960, 50 n. 1). — [5-7]: The words gef ek þér ‘I will give you’ are extrametrical and superfluous to the sense, and are omitted by all other eds except FSN and ÍF Edd. (Heiðr 1672 retains in l. 5 but omits in the following lines), but they are retained here according to the principles of SkP.
