Rymr var í ranni, rísu með góðum;
vildi hverr heyra, hvat Hlöðr mælti,
ok þat er Angantýr andsvör veitti.
Rymr var í ranni, rísu með góðum; hverr vildi heyra, hvat Hlöðr mælti, ok þat er Angantýr veitti andsvör.
‘There was uproar in the hall, they rose with the good [man]; each wished to hear what Hlǫðr said, and what Angantýr offered in answer. ’
Angantýr gets up from the table and arms himself with mailcoat, shield and the sword Tyrfingr. A clamour arises in the hall, sem hér segir ‘as it says here’.
Edd. Min. assumes two lines have been lost after ll. 1-2, but nothing is missing from the syntax or the sense of the stanza as it stands. — [6]: The line also occurs in Sigsk 17/2, 45/2 and (in the pl.) 50/4, and in Ǫrv 10/2.
Text is based on reconstruction from the base text and variant apparatus and may contain alternative spellings and other normalisations not visible in the manuscript text. Transcriptions may not have been checked and should not be cited.
