Fann ek aldri — þó hefik farit víða —
hugþekkri mey en Haka dóttur.
Hon er at öllu, sem ek æskja mun.
Ek fann aldri hugþekkri mey en {dóttur Haka}, þó hefik farit víða. Hon er at öllu, sem ek mun æskja.
‘I have never found a more endearing girl than the daughter of Haki [= Brynhildr], yet I have travelled widely. She is in every respect as I could wish. ’
notes and context
Consisting of only six lines, this stanza echoes the contents of the preceding one and may be an incompletely transmitted variation of it (see Hálf 1909, 130). Bugge (Hálf 1864) notes that the stanza seems superfluous and may be a later addition.
