The battle is joined and Víkarr’s champions fight very well. Starkaðr fights using both hands and is not wearing a coat of mail. The stanza is introduced with the words sem hér segir ‘as it says here’.

This stanza is metrically mixed, with ll. 1, 3 and 5 being in kviðuháttr, and l. 7 in fornyrðislag.
