introduction
The following eight stanzas concern Friðþjófr’s return to Norway with the Orkney tribute, his reaction to the burning down of his family farm and Ingibjǫrg’s marriage to King Hringr, and his revenge on Helgi and Hálfdan by desecrating and burning down the sanctuary at Baldrshagi.

Drukkum forðum á Framnesi
fræknir drengir með föður mínum.
Nú sé ek brendan bæ þann vera;
á ek öðlingum ilt at gjalda.
Forðum drukkum fræknir drengir á Framnesi með föður mínum. Nú sé ek þann bæ vera brendan; ek á at gjalda öðlingum ilt.
‘Once we, bold warriors, drank at Framnes with my father. Now I see that farm is burnt; I have to pay back the princes for that evil deed. ’
notes and context
After his stay with the jarl of Orkney, who refuses to pay tribute to the brothers Helgi and Hálfdan, but willingly gives money to Friðþjófr himself, the latter, with his men, returns to Norway, bringing Hallvarðr with them. There they find that Helgi and Hálfdan have burnt down the dwellings at Framnes and married Ingibjǫrg off to King Hringr. Friðþjófr recites this stanza after having seen the burnt ruins at Framnes.
The metre of this stanza is regular fornyrðislag, as is that of the following stanza.
