Katla sat á palli ok spann garn. Hon bað Odd sitja hjá sér "ok ver hljóðr ok kyrr." Hon bað konur sitja í rúmum sínum "ok verið hljóðar," kvað hon, "en ek mun hafa orð fyrir oss." Ok er þeir Arnkell kómu, gengu þeir inn þegar, ok er þeir kómu í stofu, heilsaði Katla Arnkatli ok spurði at tíðendum. Arnkell kvazk engi segja ok spyrr, hvar Oddr sé. Katla kvað hann farinn suðr til Breiðavíkr, "ok myndi hann eigi forðask fund þinn, ef hann væri heima, því at vér treystum þér vel um drengskapinn." "Vera má þat," segir Arnkell, "en rannsaka vilju vér hér.""Þat skal sem yðr líkar," segir Katla, ok bað matselju bera ljós fyrir þeim ok lúka upp búri. "Þat eitt er hús læst á bœnum." Þeir sá, at Katla spann garn af rokki. Nú leita þeir um húsin ok finna eigi Odd ok fóru brott eptir þat. Ok er þeir kómu skammt frá garðinum, nam Arnkell staðar ok mælti: "Hvárt mun Katla eigi hafa heðni veift um hǫfuð oss? Ok hefir þar verit Oddr, sonr hennar, er oss sýndist rokkrinn." "Eigi er hon ólíklig til," segir Þórarinn, "ok fǫrum aptr." Þeir gerðu svá.
