Saxo Grammaticus, Gesta Danorum 209 — ed. not skaldic
Not published: do not cite (Saxo, Gesta §viii. 14.9)
The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):
Duodecim filii Guthmundi egregia indole totidemque filie preclui forma circumsteterantK mensas. Qui cum regem a suis dumtaxat illata delibare conspiceret, beneficii repulsam obiiciens iniuriosum hospiti querebatur. Nee Thorkillo competens facti excusatio defuit. Quippe insolito cibo utentes plerumque grauiter affici solere commemorat, regemque non tarn alieni obsequii ingratum quam proprie sospitatis studiosum consueto more corpus curantem domesticis coenam opsoniis instruxisse. Igitur baud quaquam con- temptui imputari debere, quod fugiende pestis salutari gereretur affectu.
