Það var einhvern dag er Kormákur kom í Tungu. Var Steingerður í stofu og sat á palli. Þórveigarsynir sátu í stofunni og voru búnir að veita Kormáki tilræði er hann gengi inn. En Þorkell hafði sett öðrumegin dyra sverð brugðið en öðrumegin setti Narfi ljá í langorfi. En þá er Kormákur kom að skáladyrum skaraði ofan ljáinn og mætti hann sverðinu og brotnaði í mikið skarð.
