‘Neittu eigi að þiggja þetta’,
Þundr mælti svá orma grundar,
‘pella brík, ei píslir stækar
pálmar hneitis þier um veiti’.
‘Vielamaðr’, kvað veiti*selja
víns, ‘frestaðu ei dauða mínum;
aldri skal eg nú yðru veldi
unna; dýrka eg hilmi sunnu’.

‘Neittu eigi að þiggja þetta, {brík pella}’, svá mælti {Þundr {grundar orma}}, ‘ {pálmar hneitis} um veiti þier ei stækar píslir’. ‘Vielamaðr’, kvað {veiti*selja víns}, ‘frestaðu ei dauða mínum; eg skal nú aldri unna yðru veldi; eg dýrka {hilmi sunnu}’.

’Do not refuse to accept this, {screen of velvet} [WOMAN]’, thus spoke {the Þundr <= Óðinn> {of the land of serpents}} [GOLD > WARRIOR], ‘that {the palm trees of the sword} [WARRIORS] do not inflict on you violent tortures’. ‘Man of deceits’, said {the offering-willow of wine} [WOMAN], ‘do not delay my death; I shall now never love your power; I worship {the king of the sun} [= God]’.
