{The ruler of the Þrœndir} [NORWEGIAN KING = Sigurðr], who increased his honour, travelled the road to Rome on foot. Then the leader of the army visited holy shrines and expiated his sins.

Context: From Scotland Sigurðr proceeded to Rome, Palestine and the

Notes: [All]: See Note to st. 3 [All]. Hkr (ÍF 28, 297) places the pilgrimage before Sigurðr’s stays in Orkney and Scotland, whereas Orkn (ÍF 34, 217) agrees with Mork in describing his progress from Scotland to Rome.
