Notes: [1] Sigurði ‘Sigurðr’: For the metrically irregular form Sigurði (suspended resolution on the first two syllables of that name), see Kuhn 1939, 184-213. — [1-2] sigr bar at hendi Sigurði ‘victory came to Sigurðr’: Bera ‘carry’ (bar 3rd pers. sg. pret. indic.) is used impersonally here with sigr ‘victory’ as the object (lit. ‘victory was carried to the hand of Sigurðr’). — [4] Stauri ‘Point of Stoer’: Located between Eddrachillis Bay and Enard Bay on the north-western coast of Scotland.
