Interactive view: tap on words in the text for notes and glosses

Stanzas 26-8 are based upon a wordy exchange in the prose legend between Porphyry and Catherine in which he asks her to teach him how to gain eternal life and avoid all delusions of devils. He accepts Christianity along with two hundred other knights (Unger 1877, I, 412-13; Wolf 2003, 134).
