gjalt gjöf við gjöf;
vakr þú vera skalt, ok ver nær staddr
lýða lögskilum.
Hafna þú hatri, ok hlæ þú at öngum; gjalt gjöf við gjöf; þú skalt vera vakr, ok ver nær staddr lögskilum lýða.
‘Abandon hatred and laugh at no-one; repay a gift with a gift; you must be alert and be situated near people’s legal proceedings.’
