text and translation

The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):

Þat er upphaf á sögu þessi, at Haraldr inn hárfagri réð fyrir Nóregi. Hann var fyrstr einvaldskonungr um allan Nóreg, ‑ af hans ætt hafa allir síðan höfðingjar verit í Nóregi, ‑ ok urðu margir landflótta fyrir honum til ýmissa landa, ok váru þat meir stórmenni, fyrir því at þeir vildu eigi yfirgang hans þola, en þóttust eigi hafa styrk til mótstöðu við hann.

Um hans daga fannst Ísland ok byggðist. Réðust þá út hingat börn Ketils flatnefs, Björn inn austræni, er Kjalleklingar eru frá komnir, ok Helgi bjóla, er bjó á Kjalarnesi, ok Þórunn hyrna, er Helgi inn magri átti, í Eyjafirði. Eru frá þeim Eyfirðingar komnir. Auðr, dóttir Ketils, kom síðast út hingat, ok eru af hennar ætt komnir Orkneyja jarlar ok Götuskeggjar í Færeyjum ok Breiðfirðingar hér á landi. Þórólfr Mostrarskegg réðst út hingat, ok nam hann öll Þórsnesslönd. Eru frá honum komnir Snorrungar. Úlfr inn skjálgi réðst út hingat, ok nam hann Reykjanes í Breiðafirði. Eru frá honum komnir Reyknesingar. Þórðr víkingr kom út hingat. Kom hann í Dýrafjörð ok nam þar land allt inum nyrðra megin. Hrollaugr, sonr Rögnvalds jarls af Mæri, bróðir Torf-Einars jarls ok Þóris þegjanda ok Göngu-Hrólfs, hann fór út hingat ok nam land austr á Síðu, ok eru frá honum komnir Síðumenn.
