The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):

Það var á dögum Haralds konungs hins hárfagra, Hálfdanar sonar hins svarta, Guðröðar sonar veiðikonungs, Hálfdanar sonar hins milda og hins matarilla, Eysteins sonar frets, Ólafs sonar trételgju Svíakonungs, að sá maður kom skipi sínu til Íslands í Breiðdal, er Hallfreður hét. Það er fyrir neðan Fljótsdalshérað. Þar var á skipi kona hans og sonur, er Hrafnkell hét. Hann var þá fimmtán vetra gamall, mannvænn og gervilegur.

Hallfreður setti bú saman. Um veturinn andaðist útlend ambátt, er Arnþrúður hét, og því heitir það síðan á Arnþrúðarstöðum. En um vorið færði Hallfreður bú sitt norður yfir heiði og gerði bú þar, sem heitir í Geitdal. Og eina nótt dreymdi hann, að maður kom að honum og mælti:

"Þar liggur þú, Hallfreður, og heldur óvarlega. Fær þú á brott bú þitt og vestur yfir Lagarfljót; þar er heill þín öll."

Eftir það vaknar hann og færir bú sitt út yfir Rangá í Tungu, þar sem síðan heitir á Hallfreðarstöðum, og bjó þar til elli. En honum varð þar eftir göltur og hafur. Og hinn sama dag, sem Hallfreður var í brott, hljóp skriða á húsin, og týndust þar þessir gripir; og því heitir það síðan í Geitdal.
