Það var einn dag er Þorgils reið til Lýsuhvolslaugar að skemmta sér og fylgdarmenn hans með honum. Þar bjó Vestar Torfason. Jóreiður var kona hans. Hún var væn. Þeir Þorgils stigu af baki við sundlaug. Jóreiður var þar fyrir og þó klæði. Þorgils tók í hönd henni og glensaði við hana. Þetta sér Vestar og hljóp heiman og til vopna þeirra og tekur eitt sverð og bregður og hleypur upp að lauginni. Og er fylgdarmenn sjá það hlaupa þeir upp og taka Vestar og vilja hrekja hann og tóku af honum sverðið. En er Þorgils sá þetta hleypur hann til og biður þá eigi hrekja hann því að hann er maður að vaskari þótt hann vildi hefna svívirðu sinnar er hann hugði honum væri ger þótt hér væru eigi þau efni í. En legg ekki hug á það Vestar að eg vilji nokkura þá hluti eiga við konu þína að hún sé þá verri kona en áður. En fyrir raun þína vaska vil eg gefa þér öxi þessa. Og skildu þeir að því.
