The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):

Vetri eftir Haugsnessfund kom hingað í Norðurlönd og til Björgvinjar Vilhjálmur kardínáli sendur af páfa Innocentíusi til þess að vígja Hákon konung undir kórónu. Hann vígði og Postulakirkju í konungsgarði á Svithunsmessudag um sumarið. Hákon konungur lét þá Gissur og Þórð kæra mál sín svo að kardínálinn var við og lét tjá honum alla málavöxtu þeirra. En er kardínálinn heyrði og skildi mannlát þau er Þórður hafði fengið í skiptum þeirra Gissurar þá veik hann þar mjög eftir og þótti jafnan sem hans hlutur mundi hafa við brunnið. Vildi hann það eitt heyra að Þórður færi þá til Íslands en Gissur væri þar eftir, kvað það og ráð að einn maður væri skipaður yfir landið ef friður skyldi vera. Þá var og vígður Heinrekur biskup til Íslands til Hólastaðar og dró hann mjög fram hlut Þórðar við kardínálann og svo við konunginn. Var þá og allkært með þeim biskupi og Þórði. Um sumarið Ólafsmessu var Hákon konungur vígður undir kórónu. Hafði hann þá veislu mikla út í naustinu. Þá var það ráðið að Þórður skyldi út og var hann þá skipaður yfir allt landið til forráða. En Gissur var þá eftir og þótti honum það allþungt. Var honum þá skipuð sýsla norður í Þrándheimi. Þorgils frændi Þórðar var þá eftir með konungi svo sem í nokkurri gíslingu fyrir Þórð til trúnaðar við konung.
