Um sumarið Jakobsmessu andaðist Hallveig Ormsdóttir í Reykjaholti og þótti Snorra það allmikill skaði sem honum var. Þá kom og skip í Hrútafjörð nær Ólafsmessu og voru þeir stýrimenn Þorfinnur fipur og Arnbjörn salteyða. Höfðu þeir gæsku mikla á skipi. Þá er þeir bræður Klængur og Ormur spurðu andlát móður sinnar riðu þeir vestur í Reykjaholt með sveit manna. Var með þeim Þorgeir úr Holti og fleiri bændur. En er þeir töluðu um fjárskipti þótti sinn veg hvorum, þóttust eiga fé allt að helmingi en Snorri kallaði Bláskógaheiði ráða eiga, kvað og Bessastaði af sinni eigu keypta. Hann vildi og staðina eigi til skiptis leggja, Reykjaholt og Stafaholt. En þeir skiptu gripum og bókum en um lönd varð ekki greitt og þótti mjög sinn veg hvorum. Riðu þeir bræður í braut og lögðu eftir gripina í Bæ. Þeir fundu Gissur er þeir komu suður og kvað hann það ófallið að þeir hefðu eigi rétt skipti við Snorra, kveðst og þar til vilja veita þeim sinn styrk.
