Að áliðnu sumri sendi Snorri Sturluson orð Órækju syni sínum að hann skyldi koma suður þannig með fjölmenni og vill Snorri fara að þeim Norðlendingum er í búum hans sátu. Safnaði hann þá liði um alla Vestfjörðu og hafði á fjórða hundraði manna og fóru suður á sveitir. En er liðsdráttur var um Rauðasand og Barðaströnd þá sendi Haukur prestur Þorgilsson úr Haga sonu sína, Ólaf og Pál, suður til Eyrar og sögðu þeir Þórði liðsdráttinn og sögðu að suður þannig mundi snúið flokkinum. Lét Þórður þá safna liði fyrir norðan nes en Böðvar fyrir sunnan og fengu tvö hundruð hvorir. En því komu þeir eigi saman liðinu að þeir vissu eigi hvorum megin þeir mundu út nessins. En þá er Órækja kom í Dali með flokk sinn kom liðið sunnan frá Snorra og sögðu að þeir Kolbeinn voru í brottu af Rangárvöllum og höfðu riðið norður um land og höfðu gert svo mikinn skaða á búum Snorra að það var virt meir en sex tigir hundraða. Snorri bað þá Órækju ekki fara suður þangað og bað hann snúa heim flokkinum ef hann á hvergi annars staðar erindi við menn.
