Þá er Guðmundur Arason var vígður til biskups og hann hafði einn vetur verið í Noregi fór hann til Íslands og heim til stólsins. Voru þeir Sigurður þar báðir um veturinn eftir. Um vorið eftir bað Guðmundur biskup Sigurð að hann skyldi ráðast norður til Munka-Þverár og reisa staðinn er mjög var af sér kominn að húsum. Ormur faðir Sigurðar var systurson Bjarnar biskups er staðinn hafði sett á Þverá og andaðist Ormur þar munkur. Hafði Sigurður því elsku mikla á staðnum og fór til við bæn biskups og Orms ábóta frænda síns og sneri áleiðis að húsum og ganganda fé.
