Fyrir austan Tanakvísl í Asíu var kallað Ásaland eða Ásaheimur en höfuðborgin, er í var landinu, kölluðu þeir Ásgarð. En í borginni var höfðingi sá er Óðinn var kallaður. Þar var blótstaður mikill. Það var þar siður að tólf hofgoðar voru æðstir. Skyldu þeir ráða fyrir blótum og dómum manna í milli. Það eru díar kallaðir eða drottnar. Þeim skyldi þjónustu veita og lotning allt fólk.
