The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):

Óðinn fór með her á hendur Vönum en þeir urðu vel við og vörðu land sitt og höfðu ýmsir sigur. Herjuðu hvorir land annarra og gerðu skaða. En er það leiddist hvorumtveggjum lögðu þeir milli sín sættarstefnu og gerðu frið og seldust gíslar. Fengu Vanir sína hina ágæstu menn, Njörð hinn auðga og son hans Frey, en Æsir þar í mót þann er Hænir hét og kölluðu hann allvel til höfðingja fallinn. Hann var mikill maður og hinn vænsti. Með honum sendu Æsir þann er Mímir hét, hinn vitrasti maður, en Vanir fengu þar í mót þann er spakastur var í þeirra flokki. Sá hét Kvasir.



En er Hænir kom í Vanaheim þá var hann þegar höfðingi ger. Mímir kenndi honum ráð öll. En er Hænir var staddur á þingum eða stefnum, svo að Mímir var eigi nær, og kæmu nokkur vandamál fyrir hann þá svaraði hann æ hinu sama: "Ráði aðrir," kvað hann.



Þá grunaði Vani að Æsir mundu hafa falsað þá í mannaskiptinu. Þá tóku þeir Mími og hálshjuggu og sendu höfuðið Ásum. Óðinn tók höfuðið og smurði urtum þeim er eigi mátti fúna og kvað þar yfir galdra og magnaði svo að það mælti við hann og sagði honum marga leynda hluti.
