beorht hofu bærnan; | bryneleoma stod

Wæs þæs wyrmes wig | wide gesyne,
nearofages nið | nean ond feorran,
hu se guðsceaða | Geata leode
hatode ond hynde; | hord eft gesceat,
dryhtsele dyrnne, | ær dæges hwile.
Hæfde landwara | lige befangen,
bæle ond bronde, | beorges getruwode,
