Geitir gerir heiman för sína og fer norður í Ljósavatnsskarð
til Ófeigs Járngerðarsonar. Guðmundur hinn ríki hitti Geiti
og sátu þeir á tali allan dag. Skiljast þeir síðan og gistir
Geitir að Mývatni að Ölvis hins spaka og spurði hann að
Brodd-Helga vandlega. Geitir lét vel yfir honum og kvað hann
vera stórmenni mikið, óvæginn og ódælan og þó góðan dreng að
mörgu lagi.



"Er hann eigi ójafnaðarmaður mikill?" segir Ölvir.



Geitir svarar: "Það er helst á mér orðið um ójafnaðinn Helga
að hann unni mér eigi að hafa himininn jafnan yfir höfði mér
sem hann hefir sjálfur."



Ölvir svarar: "Skal honum þá allt þola?"



"Svo hefir enn verið hér til," segir Geitir.



Nú hætta þeir þessu tali. Fer Geitir heim og er nú allt kyrrt
um veturinn.
