En um morguninn eftir sendi Glúmur eftir Þórarni og bað hann koma í Djúpadal eigi síðar en að miðjum morgni að heyra eiðana. Þórarinn veikst við og fékk hundrað manna. En er þeir komu til hofsins þá gengu sex menn í hofið, með Glúmi Gissur og Ásgrímur en með Þórarni Einar og Hlenni hinn gamli. Sá maður er hofseið skyldi vinna tók silfurbaug í hönd sér þann er roðinn var í nautsblóði þess er til blóta væri haft og skyldi eigi minna standa en þrjá aura.
Þá kvað Glúmur svo að orði: "Að eg nefni Ásgrím í vætti, annan Gissur í það vætti að eg vinn hofseið að baugi og segi eg það Æsi að eg vark at þar og vák at þar og rauðk at þar odd og egg er Þorvaldur krókur fékk bana. Líti nú á eið þeir er spekimenn eru og við eru staddir."
Þeir Þórarinn urðu eigi búnir að lasta en kváðust eigi fyrri þann veg heyrt hafa að orði kveðið. Með slíku móti voru eiðar unnir í Gnúpafelli og svo að Þverá.
