Eve, very easily beguiled because she trusted, ate the fruit, but she lost honour and enticed Adam there with her; now he ate that which he knew was banned. He feared that Eve would be offended if he refused to grant her request; thus the fiend in the beginning managed to blind our parents with much deceit.

Stjórn: hann ugdi at hon mundi stygguaz uidr. ef hann æti eigi eplit er hon bar honum ‘he feared that she would be deeply offended if he did not eat the apple she brought to him’ (Unger 1862, 38). Schottmann (1973, 199) believes that the language here is so similar that the Lil poet must have used Stjórn as a source.
