text and translation

The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):

Baugur, tvíeyringur eða meiri, skyldi liggja í hverju höfuðhofi á stalli. Þann baug skyldi hver goði hafa á hendi sér til lögþinga þeirra allra er hann skyldi sjálfur heyja og rjóða hann þar í róðru blótnauts þess er hann blótaði þar sjálfur. Hver sá maður er þar þurfti lögskil af hendi að leysa að dómi skyldi áður eið vinna að þeim baugi og nefna sér votta tvo eða fleiri.

"Ykkur nefni eg í það vætti," skyldi hann segja, "að eg vinn eið að " baugi, lögeið. Hjálpi mér svo nú Freyr og Njörður og hinn almáttki ás, sem eg mun svo sök þessa sækja eða verja eða vitni bera eða kviðu eða dóma dæma sem eg veit réttast og sannast og helst að lögum, og öll lögmæt skil af hendi leysa, þau er undir mig koma, meðan eg er á þessu þingi."
