text and translation

The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):

Nú tók Svanr til orða ok geispaði mjǫk: "Nú sœkja at fylgjur Ósvífrs." Þá spratt Þjóstólfr upp ok tók øxi sína. Svanr mælti: "Gakk þú út með mér. lítils mun við þurfa." Síðan gengu þeir út báðir. Svanr tók geitskinn eitt ok veifði um hǫfuð sér ok mælti:

Verði þoka

ok verði skrípi

ok undr ǫllum þeim

er eptir þér sœkja.

Nú er frá því at segja, at þeir Ósvífr ríðu á hálsinn ok menn hans; Þá kom þoka mikil í móti þeim. Ósvífr mælti: "Þessu mun Svanr valda, ok væri vel ef eigi fylgði meira illt." Litlu síðar sé sorti mikill fyrir augu þeim, svá at þeir sá ekki, ok fellu þeir þá af baki ok týndu hestunum ok gengu í fen ofan sjálfir, en sumir í skóginn, svá at þeim helt við meiðingar; Þeir tǫpuðu af sér vápnunum.
