Nú er að segja frá ferð Refs að þeir léttu ekki fyrr sinni
ferð en þeir komu til Danmerkur. Refur sótti þegar á konungs
fund og sagði honum allan vöxt á þarkomu sinni og bað hann
viðtöku.



Konungur sagði svo að honum þætti svo verða í hans frásögn
sem nauður hefði til rekið víðast um harðræði hans: "Líst mér
svo á þig og sonu þína sem gott muni brautargengi í yður. Nú
af því að þú hefir vorn fund sótt, hefir þú og þann varning
flutt í land vort sem oss er nú ekki um hríð mjög auðfengur
sakir vorra fjandmanna, sem er svörður til reiða á skipum
vorum, þá munum vér við yður taka. Mun eg fá yður eignir og
bú þar sem oss líkar en synir þínir, Steinn og Björn, skulu
vera með oss. Munu sæmdir þeirra þar við liggja hvert
mannkaup er mér þykir í þeim þann tíma er vér reynum. En
Þormóður son þinn skal vera með þér."



Refur kveðst gjarna vildu að konungur sæi einn fyrir "en þó
munum vér fyrst herra sjá fyrir peningum vorum og búa þá
bræður til yðar."



Konungur kvað svo vera skyldu.



Fóru þeir Refur þá til skips síns. Kom það upp að þeir hefðu
of fjár í svörð og tannvöru og skinnavöru og mörgum þeim
hlutum er fásénir voru í Danmörk af grænlenskum varningi.
Þeir höfðu fimm hvítabjörnu og fimm tigu fálka og fimmtán
hvíta.
