Þeir Önundur og Ásmundur létu í haf er þeir voru búnir og
höfðu samflota.

Þá kvað Önundur þetta:

Þótti eg hæfr að Hrotta

hreggvindi fyrr seggjum,

þá er geirhríðar gnúði

grand hvasst, Og Súgandi.

Nú verðr á skæ skorðu,

skáldi sígr, að stíga

út með einum fæti

Íslands á vit, þvísa.

Þeir höfðu útivist harða og veður þver mjög af suðri. Bar þá
norður í haf. Þeir fundu Ísland og voru þá komnir fyrir
norðan Langanes er þeir kenndust við. Þá var svo skammt í
milli þeirra að þeir töluðust við. Sagði Ásmundur að þeir
mundu sigla til Eyjafjarðar og því játuðu hvorirtveggju.
Beittu þeir þá undir landið. Þá tók veðrið að styrma af
landsuðri. En er þeir Önundur lögðu í nauðbeitu þá lestist
ráin. Felldu þeir þá seglið og í því rak þá til hafs undan.
Ásmundur komst undir Hrísey og beið til þess er honum byrjaði
inn á Eyjafjörð. Honum gaf Helgi hinn magri Kræklingahlíð
alla. Hann bjó að Glerá hinni syðri.

Ásgrímur bróðir hans kom út nokkurum vetrum síðar. Hann bjó
að Glerá hinni nyrðri. Hann var faðir Elliða-Gríms, föður
Ásgríms.
