text and translation

The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):

Ok nú finnsk mǫnnum orð um, hvé skrautlegr flokkr þeirra var, eða um málsenda þeirra, hversu skǫruligir váru. Þorkell mælti þá til Gests: "Hvé lengi ætlar þú, at kapp þeirra Haukdœla ok yfirgangr muni vera svá mikill?" Gestr svarar: "Eigi munu þeir allir samþykkir it þriðja sumar, er þar eru nú í þeim flokki." En Arnórr var hjá þessu þeira tali ok hleypr inn í búð þeira Haukdœla ok segir þeim þessi orð. Gísli svarar: "Hér mun hann mælt mál talat hafa. En vǫrumsk vér, at eigi verði hann sannspár; enda sé ek gott ráð til þessa, at vér bindim várt vinfengi með meiri fastmælum en áðr, ok sverjumsk í fóstbrœðalag fjórir."

En þeim sýnisk þetta ráðligt. Ganga nú út í Eyrarhválsodda ok rista þar upp ór jǫrðu jarðarmen, svá at báðir endar váru fastir í jǫrðu, ok settu þar undir málaspjót, þat er maðr mátti taka hendi sinni til geirnagla. Þeir skyldu þar fjórir undir ganga , Þorgrímr, Gísli, Þorkell ok Vésteinn. Ok nú vekja þeir sér blóð ok láta renna saman dreyra sinn í þeiri moldu, er upp var skorin undan jarðarmeninu, ok hrœra saman allt, moldina ok blóðit; en síðan fellu þeir allir á kné ok sverja þann eið, at hverr skal annars hefna sem bróður síns, ok nefna ǫll goðin í vitni.
