The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):

Nú kom drottinsdagur. Var þá sent til konungs og sagt að
Gjafvaldur vildi finna hann. Konungur kom á fund hans.

Þá mælti Gjafvaldur: "Nú vil eg skipa herra til fjáreigna
minna því að eigi veit hversu langt tóm til gefur. En biðja
vil eg að þér gefið Gísl grið því að skörulega hefir hann
hefnt síns föður."

"Þess er engi von," segir konungur.

Gjafvaldur mælti: "Það veist þú konungur að mjög lengi hefi
eg þér fylgt og lagt stundum mitt líf fyrir þitt líf og verið
búinn til þess alls sem þú hefir viljað fyrir mig leggja
hvort sem var gott eða illa. En nú kann vera að sjá sé hinn
síðasti fundur okkar. Hefi eg nú talað við kennimenn og gert
þeim í kunnleika ráð mitt og tekið þjónustu og segja þeir mér
svo að eg mun vera hjálparmaður ef nú fyrirgef eg það er við
mig er misgert. Nú vænti eg þess herra að eigi munir þú
byrgja svo fyrir mér himinríki að sjá sé dauðamaður."

"Besta fer þér," segir konungur.

Gekk hann í brott en Gjafvaldur andaðist litlu síðar.
