The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):

Egill hét húskarl þeirra Skúfs. Hann var mikill maður vexti
og sterkur, ljótur yfirlits, ófimur og óvitur. Hann átti
kenningarnafn og var kallaður Fífl-Egill.

Þormóður var löngum ókátur. Þeir spurðu Þormóð eftir, Bjarni
og Skúfur, ef þeir mættu nokkuð bætur ráða á hljóðleikum
hans.

Þormóður svarar: "Það vildi eg að þið fengjuð mér fylgdarmann
þann er mér fylgdi hvert er eg vildi fara."

Þeir sögðu svo vera skyldu, báðu hann kjósa þann mann af
húskörlum sínum sem hann vildi.

Þormóður mælti: "Fífl-Egill, hann er mikill vexti og sterkur,
hann kýs eg og mun eigi of hygginn að gera slíkt sem fyrir
hann er lagt."

Þeir kváðu svo vera skyldu. Menn undruðust þó hví hann kaus
Egil.
