Þessi tíðindi spyrjast nú víða um héraðið og þeir
Hallsteinssynir spurðu þetta sem aðrir. Þá fóru þeir heim á
Víðivöllu og skipta fénu öllu í helminga og taka við
móðurarfi sínum. Ráðast þeir nú burt með fé sínu. Eftir þetta
er til veislu snúið og mönnum til boðið og er þar mestur
hluti fyrirmanna saman kominn. En svo mikla virðing sýndu
þeir Hallsteini, synir Droplaugar, að þeir vildu eigi vera að
boði hennar. Eigi var Hrafnkell þar og eigi Helgi
Ásbjarnarson. Veislan fór vel fram og sköruglega en eftir
boðið tekur Droplaug við búinu og allri umsjá bæði fyrir utan
stokk og innan og þvílíka risnu sem hún var vön. Þeir bræður,
Droplaugarsynir, skipa bú sitt og setja konu fyrir, halda
öllu hinu sama um búrisnu sína sem vandi var til áður.



Um samfarar þeirra Hallsteins og Droplaugar var ekki mart
enda ekki illa en synir Hallsteins lögðu mikinn óþokka til
Droplaugar svo að þeir komu aldrei að finna föður sinn. En á
fyrstum misserum er þau voru ásamt hjón þá fer Droplaug eigi
kona ein saman og líða stundir fram í líkindi þar til er
Droplaug fæddi barn. Það var sveinn. Er hann vatni ausinn og
nafn gefið og kallaður Björgólfur eftir móðurföður sínum. Óx
sá sveinn upp og var hinn efnilegasti. Unnu þau honum mikið
því að hann var hinn bráðgervasti í öllu.
