Síðan greiða konungar atróður. Lagði Sveinn konungur sitt
skip móti Orminum langa en Ólafur konungur sænski lagði út
frá og stakk stöfnum að ysta skipi Ólafs konungs Tryggvasonar
en öðrum megin Eiríkur jarl. Tókst þar þá hörð orusta.
Sigvaldi jarl lét skotta við sín skip og lagði ekki til
orustu.

Svo segir Skúli Þorsteinsson, hann var þá með Eiríki jarli:

Fylgdi eg Frísa dólgi

fékk eg ungr, þar er spjör sungu,

nú finnr öld, að eg eldumst,

aldrbót, og Sigvalda,

þar er til móts við mæti

málmþings í dyn hjálma

suðr fyr Svöldrar mynni

sárlauk roðinn bárum.

Og enn segir hér frá þessum tíðindum Hallfreður:

Þar hykk víst til mjög misstu,

mörg kom drótt á flótta,

gram þann er gunni framdi,

gengis þrænskra drengja.

Næfr vó einn við jöfra

allvaldr tvo snjalla,

frægr er til slíks að segja

siðr, og jarl hinn þriðja.
