Ólafur konungur fór liði sínu út til Niðaróss. Þá lét hann
reisa þar hús á Niðarbakka og skipaði svo að þar skyldi vera
kaupstaður, gaf mönnum þar tóftir til að gera sér þar hús en
hann lét gera konungsgarð upp frá Skipakrók. Lét hann þannug
flytja um haustið öll föng þau er þurfti til vetursetu og
hafði hann þar allmikið fjölmenni.
