Ólafur konungur fór snemma um vorið út í Víkina og hafði lið
mikið, fór þá norður á Agðir. En hvar sem hann átti þing við
bændur þá boðaði hann öllum mönnum að skírast og gengu menn
undir kristni því að engi fékkst uppreist af bóndum móti
konungi og var fólkið skírt hvar sem hann fór.

Menn þeir voru á Hörðalandi margir og göfgir er komnir voru
af ætt Hörða-Kára. Hann átti fjóra sonu. Einn var Þorleifur
spaki. Annar Ögmundur, faðir Þórólfs skjálgs, föður Erlings
af Sóla. Þriðji var Þórður, faðir Klypps hersis er drap
Sigurð slefu Gunnhildarson. Fjórði Ölmóður, faðir Áskels,
föður Ásláks Fitjaskalla. Þessi áttbogi var þá mestur og
göfgastur á Hörðalandi.

En er þeir frændur spurðu til vandkvæðis þessa, að konungur
fór austan með landi og hafði lið mikið og braut forn lög á
mönnum en allir sættu refsingum og afarkostum, þeir er í móti
mæltu, þeir frændur gerðu stefnulag milli sín og skulu gera
ráð fyrir sér því að þeir vita að konungur mun brátt koma á
fund þeirra. Og semst það með þeim að þeir skulu koma allir
fjölmennt til Gulaþings og stefna þar fund við Ólaf konung
Tryggvason.
