Hákon jarl og Eiríkur jarl láta skera upp herör um öll
Þrændalög, senda boð á Mæri hvoratveggju og í Raumsdal, svo
norður í Naumudal og á Hálogaland, stefna út öllum almenning
að liði og skipum.
Svo segir í Eiríksdrápu:
Mjök lét margar snekkjur,
mærðar örr, sem knörru,
óðr vex skálds, og skeiðar
skjaldhlynr á brim dynja,
þá er ólítinn utan
élherðir fór gerða,
mörg var lind fyr landi,
lönd síns föður röndu.
Hákon jarl hélt þegar suður á Mæri á njósn og í liðsafnað en
Eiríkur jarl dró saman herinn og flutti norðan.
