Hákon jarl og Gull-Haraldur fundust litlu síðar en Haraldur
gráfeldur féll. Leggur þá Hákon jarl til orustu við
Gull-Harald. Fær Hákon þar sigur en Haraldur var handtekinn
og lét Hákon hann festa á gálga. Síðan fór Hákon jarl á fund
Danakonungs og sættist við hann auðveldlega um dráp
Gull-Haralds frænda hans.

Síðan býr Haraldur konungur her út um allt sitt ríki og fór
með sex hundruð skipa. Þar var þá með honum Hákon jarl og
Haraldur grenski sonur Guðröðar konungs og mart annarra
ríkismanna, þeirra er flúið höfðu óðul sín fyrir
Gunnhildarsonum úr Noregi. Hélt Danakonungur her sínum sunnan
í Víkina og gekk landsfólk allt undir hann.

En er hann kom til Túnsbergs þá dreif til hans mikið
fjölmenni. Og fékk Haraldur konungur lið það allt í hendur
Hákoni jarli er til hans hafði komið í Noregi og gaf honum
til forráða Rogaland og Hörðaland, Sogn, Firðafylki,
Sunn-Mæri og Raumsdal og Norð-Mæri.

Þessi sjö fylki gaf Haraldur konungur Hákoni jarli til
forráða með þvílíkum formála sem Haraldur hinn hárfagri gaf
sonum sínum, nema það skildi að Hákon skyldi eignast þar og
svo í Þrándheimi öll konungsbú og landskyldir. Hann skyldi og
hafa konungsfé sem hann þyrfti ef her væri í landi.

Haraldur konungur gaf Haraldi grenska Vingulmörk, Vestfold og
Agðir til Líðandisness og konungsnafn og lét hann þar hafa
ríki með öllu slíku sem að fornu höfðu haft frændur hans og
Haraldur hinn hárfagri gaf sonum sínum. Haraldur grenski var
þá átján vetra og varð síðan frægur maður.

Fer þá Haraldur Danakonungur heim með allan Danaher.
