Sigurður Eiríksson kom til Eistlands í sendiferð Valdimars
konungs af Hólmgarði og skyldi hann heimta þar í landi skatta
konungs. Fór Sigurður ríkulega með marga menn og mikið fé.
Hann sá á torgi svein fríðan mjög og skildi að sá mundi þar
útlendur og spyr hann að nafni og ætt sinni.



Hann nefndi sig Ólaf en Tryggva Ólafsson föður sinn en móður
sína Ástríði dóttur Eiríks bjóðaskalla. Þá kannaðist Sigurður
við að sveinninn var systurson hans. Þá spurði Sigurður
sveininn hví hann væri þar kominn. Ólafur sagði honum alla
atburði um sitt mál. Sigurður bað hann fylgja sér til Réas
búanda. En er hann kom þar þá keypti hann sveinana báða, Ólaf
og Þorgísl, og hafði með sér til Hólmgarðs og lét ekki
uppvíst um ætt Ólafs en hélt hann vel.
